January is always a time of dieting and trying to lose excess weight but God encouraged me recently that in the spiritual realm it is the very opposite, that He longs to give us intense nourishment.
Psalm 81:10
God promises his children
“Open your mouth wide and I will fill it”
Just like a baby bird receiving nourishment from the “daddy bird.”
Do not starve your spirit.
He will feed us according to our hunger.
We need to come and eat with Him at His Table. Smith Wigglesworth understood this principle After every physical meal he ate he would always read a few verses from the Bible to feed his spirit man and he had much vigour and power because of it.
God wants us to get fat and robust spiritually, strong and not easily knocked down. You have heard of power naps, God wants to give us power "snacks" throughout the day. Food that will grow us and mature us so that we might be so full of energy and vitality that we can give away to others what He has given to us. The enemy of our souls is stingy and wants to steal from us but Gods heart is to replenish us from heaven with a bounty of generosity.
Isaiah 55 v1-2
“Is anyone thirsty?Come and drink…..it’s all free!.......Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food”
God fed Elijah with supernatural food several times.
In 1 Kings ch 17 we see how God sent ravens to feed him. He wants to feed you too with the richest morsels from Heaven.
Elijah was also sent to the Widow of Zarephath for miraculous supply.
Then in 1 Kings ch19 God sent an angel to feed him in his darkest hour with heavenly food, how incredible is that???
God’s Word to you will carry you many days in a time of famine. God wants us so fat that we are "bursting at the seams". Put weight on spiritually, be established, spread out (Isaiah 55v3)
The first sign of wellness is hunger (Jairus’ daughter)
When you eat at His Table the food is FREE, He has already paid the price. He has picked up the tab and it was so costly. Do not waste what He has laid out before for you at your very own "Table for Two".
