He alone is our Source and as we pour ourselves out to fill other “containers” He will re-fill us “to the brim”. “Pressed down shaken together and running over” Pour yourself out into the empty vessels around you and God will take care to replenish you so you are never running on empty.
God wants our lives to be characterised by giving and as we do we will not be depleted.
Just as the little boy gave his 5 loaves and 2 fishes to Jesus to help with the feeding of the 5,000 – so when we pour out our lives for others, we will always have more in return than we ever gave away. This is a divine principle.
He is a generous God and He wants our lives (as his children) to be marked with the same generosity we see expressed in own His heart toward us.
Whatever He has given us in the spiritual and/or in the physical – we need to give it away and see His endless supply!
In 2 Kings 4: 1-7 we see a beautiful story of Gods provision to a widow woman left with debts after her husbands’ death.
She only had one jar of oil left. But by faith and obedience to Elisha’s instructions, she went and borrowed many pots from her friends and neighbours.
Notice it was only as she started pouring out what she already had that God gave the increase.
“Soon every container was full to the brim” (v5)
However also notice that the oil stopped flowing when she had no other pots to pour into!
He alone is our Source and as we pour ourselves out to fill other “containers” He will re-fill us “to the brim”. “Pressed down shaken together and running over” We must pour ourselves out into the empty vessels all around us and God will take care to replenish us so we are never running on empty. In fact, the actual opposite is true;
the more we give away the more we are filled.
Let our hearts cry be “Fill me up Lord” and then as He answers from Heaven – we can pour ourselves out again so we can continually receive even more of His fullness.
We must never allow what God has given us to lay stagnant in our hearts.
(Remember the manna in the wilderness)
Ask for the flow of His Holy Spirit, not just a trickle but a deluge from Heaven to fill up every space inside of you.
Let's make a promise to God today –
“whatever you give me Lord, I will give it away”
God fills us according to our hunger;
it pulls down His rich supply from Heaven.
Our hunger cannot be resisted by our Heavenly Daddy
